Week 5

09/30/2020

This week started with the return of Scouts Gabe Manchester and Rishi Gundapalli who helped till and weed the entire second 14'X14' section of the meadow. This portion of the meadow will be home to Common Milkweed, Swamp Milkweed and Butterfly Weed. I would like to take a moment to once again stress that despite the unfortunate name of these plants, they are not weeds at all! In fact, I feel strongly that every garden in the North East should have a few of these plants that are vital to supporting various pollinator populations.

Rishi and Gabe also helped water the newly planted flowers. Sadly, due to the ongoing drought, it is becoming increasingly challenging to draw water from this part of the Charles river because it is rapidly drying out.

Other exciting news is that I received the information kiosk that I was able to purchase with the support of my loving family and friends. Very grateful to everyone that contributed.
